The Onion Creek subdivision is located just east of IH35 in South Central Austin. The area was established in 1974 so it features mature pecan, cypress and live oak trees. Onion Creek homes are typically over 2,000 sq. feet. Many are making Onion Creek their home because of the golf course and club house.
It is known for being the birthplace of the Senior PGA tour. It also hosted the Legends of Golf tournament for several years. The course was designed by Jimmy Demaret. Where is Onion Creek
This neighborhood is south of downtown Austin on IH 35. Located on the east side of the highway, the creek runs throughout this neighborhood. The home-sites follow the creek and the golf course and many have nice views. It’s easy to get to the Austin Bergstrom Airport from here.
What to do in Onion Creek
Shopping is in abundance around this neighborhood. There are movie theaters, restaurants and lots of other fun activities. Southpark Meadows is a retail center across the highway with all manner of stores. Cabelas sporting goods store is nearby also. In Onion Creek itself, life revolves around the club. Whether you are a golfer or not, you will find lots of activities to occupy your time. Membership is not mandatory for residents, but most seem to want to belong. There is a junior Olympic swimming pool, work out room, and tennis courts.
